“Be the change you wish to see in the world,” said Mahatma Gandhi.
The changes I wish to see in the world include…
• Renewable resources used for energy
• CO2 emissions reduced to a safe level
• Respect and appreciation for all living things
• Healthy food to eat and fresh water to drink for everyone
• Free education for everyone
• Loving relationships for everyone
• Health for everyone
• Wealth for everyone (assuming it isn’t earnt through ill means or amassed in greed) and
• Perfect self-expression for everyone!
Yep I am a total dreamer! But the world needs me and a whole heap of other dreamers right now to transition into a global community that is loving, ethical and sustainable. We are at an amazing place in humankind’s journey and we need loving, respectful and courageous people to stand up and do what we were born to do.
Are you one of us? Do you…
• Struggle with injustice in the world?
• Question the divide between the rich and the poor?
• Have doubts about the ethics, honesty and motives of current world leaders?
• Know in your heart that things would be very different if everyone acted with integrity?
So how do we change the world? First, we must change ourselves! Technically, Gandhi’s actual quote was, “If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness.”
This is very profound. It sounds a lot like ‘The Secret” to me. The movie and book by Rhonda Byrne is based on ancient wisdom that teaches, “As within, so without”, or “The Law of Attraction.” Lots of authors for hundreds of years have taught people that what we think over and over in our minds and imaginations to the point of believing it, makes it come true for us.
If we all think, imagine and focus on how corrupt our leaders and influencers may be, how unjust and unfair our society may be and how fu**ed up nature and the planet may be this is exactly what we will see, and it will come true for us (or remain true for us).
On the other hand, if we think, imagine and focus on the loving, respectful and inspiring things that are happening in the world right now, the world will change in response to the change in us and we will see loving, respectful and inspiring stuff in the world.
I’ll elaborate with a personal experience that has become a bit of a real life experiment…
My 22-year-old Honda was given 12 months rego (from my long-term mechanic) on the condition that I get myself a replacement car before the year was out. I asked myself what car I really wanted and decided I would do everything in my power to get myself a Model 3 Performance Tesla and solar panels to charge it because I wanted to “be the change I wanted to see in the world.” In response to this material dream, my Sparky suggested I create ‘Sparky and Shady MA’ for anyone over 15 years who wanted to know what I know and to present it online at a grown-up level to inspire people to change themselves so they could live more happy, loving and fulfilling lives changing the world.
In the last three months since I started teaching the live lessons every Friday morning, I have changed myself and my beliefs to the point that I honestly believe I am worthy of a Tesla, I believe I deserve a Tesla, I can see myself in my Tesla and I know I am getting one (thanks to quite a few Pit Stops). This feeling and knowing became so strong that I got the solar installed and actually ordered the Tesla a month ago. It is due to arrive in Sydney docks in about one month’s time.
Will the world respond to the change in me? Will I get my Tesla?
You will have to stay tuned to find out!
In the meantime,…
Am I scared I won’t have the 110 grand to pay for the car next month? Of course I am, but I am doing it anyway (thanks to the Pit Stops). Why am I doing it? Because I know it is the right thing to do. I am being the change I want to see in the world. I want everyone to go renewable and I know I have to practice what I preach to be an inspiration to others. Why didn’t I get the base model for 75 grand? Because I don’t love it and after those Pit Stops, I know that we all deserve the best that life has to offer us as long as it is good for us, good for others and good for the planet. All we have to do is ask for what we want, believe we are worthy of it, believe we deserve it, believe we can have it and be grateful for it. I believe all these things and I am grateful.
Life is supposed to be an exciting adventure full of love, connection, wealth, health, and perfect self-expression. Let’s change ourselves and in turn change the world one person at a time. It is my turn right now and if you are up for it, you can have your turn next…
Love Kathy
